New Wife. I recently married Ginger Bryant. I still
participate in the things listed below, but, at a less feverish
pace than when I was completely single.
Computer Technology Guru
. In the process of doing this job for the last 25 years, I've picked up a little knowledge that I enjoy sharing whenever possible. I participate in a couple of local user groups, the NT Engineering Association of Silicon Valley and the Silicon Valley WebGuild. I also provide mentoring to teachers and students at Cupertino High School.
Care Giver. I've been a Red Cross volunteer since I was 15 and have performed duties in both Health & Safety Services and Disaster Services. I'm currently a Supervisor level volunteer in Disaster Services as well as a Certified Trainer.
Public Television. In the late '80's I discovered the riches of Public Television and the efforts of a local PBS station, KTEH. With the effort of a few staff and a lot of volunteers, this local station produces and provides a great deal of original content to the 9 Bay Area counties. I've become a regular volunteer here helping with script writing, inventory registry and leadership positions during Auction. The many hours I donate here assist with the funding necessary to maintain the variety of shows presented.San Francisco Regional MENSA. A friend of mine bugged me long enough that I went and tested for membership. Lo and behold ! I qualified. My normal activity with this group is participation in various events at the Public Television station listed above. We have the distinction of having the only Group that works both the technical and non-technical side of operations during these events.
Amateur (HAM) Radio. In 1975, I was a volunteer storm chaser for the Civil Defense in Altus, Oklahoma. This network of volunteers operated on both Citizens Band (CB) and Amateur Radio. I developed a friendship with a few of the Hams who began chiding me (knowing I was listening on my scanner) and eventually (1976) I achieved my license. I've maintained my volunteer service in community emergency services agencies through the years and the varying areas of the world I've resided in. The focus of the emergency preparedness is different depending on where you are, but, the need to provide is always the same.
